Selfridges inventive director Laura Weir is about to take over from Caroline Rush as chief government of the British Trend Council on the finish of April, the organisation stated Monday.
Rush has led the nonprofit that coordinates London Trend Week and represents vogue creatives within the UK for the previous 15 years. Her departure was introduced in September. She is going to proceed to work on the organisation till June to offer time for a handover.
Weir is taking on at a difficult second for the business, with London’s relevance as a vogue capital fading and younger creatives struggling to make it in a cutthroat business.
She brings expertise from years working in vogue media and consulting for the sector.
“Laura has labored alongside established and rising designers, inventive expertise, business leaders and press all through her profession over the previous 20 years,” stated BFC chair David Pemsel. “Her expertise provides her an understanding of the complexities of the style business ecosystem, and the strategic foresight to have the ability to lead optimistic transformation and initiatives to drive the subsequent chapter of the BFC each domestically and globally.”
